Activity Objectives
  1. “The needs of the victim”
  2. To provide knowledge about the needs of crime victims.
  3. To teach officers how to sense and interpret the needs and emotional states of victims of crime.
  4. To help officers acquire adequate skills, tools and methodologies to enhance interaction with the victim.
  5. To promote and develop expertise in addressing stress-related problems. To describe methodologies for building and developing coping styles, in specific situations, that can be used by officers to handle critical situations.
  6. To promote and develop basic psychological first aid skills to supplement the skills and expertise of police officers during critical events.
  7. To provide knowledge about how to develop care networks to be used in handling critical events, with particular reference to victim care.
