CEPOL's e-Net
Article 7(h) of Council Decision
2005/681/JHA establishing CEPOL states one of its tasks is to develop an electronic network to provide back-up for CEPOL in the performance of its duties, ensuring that the necessary security measures are in place. A new platform was developed in 2008 and the new electronic network (e-Net) became fully functional in the second half of 2009. e-Net offers the following functionalities:
CEPOL’s public website allows users to access general information about CEPOL’s activities, how the network is organised, corporate publications, Secretariat contacts, etc. Member States also present their national training institutes on the Police College pages. CEPOL’s restricted website is only accessible to registered users who have their own username and password and provides more detailed information about activities. Read more...
The Discussion Forum and Chat functionalities provide an area where users can discuss key topics, either in the relevant discussion forum, or in a ‘live chat’ window. The Discussion Forum provides the possibility to have topics open to all users with passwords, or closed and only visible to groups of users with special access rights (special users). Read more...
CEPOL's e-Library is a database-driven knowledge repository, established to disseminate research findings, good practice and research projects in support of police learning and the promotion of a European approach to police science. In regard to the content, the e-Library has a special emphasis on material and documents from European sources and a view towards a European perspective. At the current stage the e-Library is not open for the public but it is accessible to senior police officer, as well as for qualified researchers and scientist in the area of police and policing from the CEPOL Member States. The entries of the e-Library come from all CEPOL Member States, regardless of the language of the original document – however, every entry comes with an English translation of the title and a summary in English. CEPOL's Workspace is a Document Management System (DMS) which allows the network to work together more quickly and efficiently. Those in the network who are members of the Governing Board, Committees, Working Groups and network groups can control the life cycle of all the documents produced by their specific group. In Workspace it is possible to see how and when documents are created, reviewed, published, utilised, retained and destroyed. Read more...
The Learning Management System or LMS on e-Net provides tools for all users of the CEPOL network to manage and promote learning in courses and seminars, as well as in other CEPOL activities such as the Exchange Programme and for self-paced e-learning modules. Each CEPOL activity is supported by a corresponding 'Course' in the LMS. A participant or Course Manager can see it listed on the Courses tab. Read more...
